Travel photography is a form of photography involving the documentation of an area's landscape, people, cultures, customs and history. Travel photography is defined as an image that expresses the feeling of a time and place, portrays a land, its people, or a culture in its natural state, and has no geographical limitations.

As a result photographers of this nature tend to be spread across the world for various lengths of time, whether it be a specific contract to shoot images in the Caribbean for use in promotional material, or to document any festival, community, religion or similar for news purposes. Many will travel freely of any such obligation and just search for the pictures that can be sold to continue their free style.

Many travel photographers do most of their work abroad and so they should ensure that any kit they take is insured for such journeys. Likewise, laptops are more and more being taken on journeys so they can download the images so they too should be insured for these journeys.
