Depending on what you do in the image making business something happening that is beyond your control such as theft of kit for instance can cause you and your business serious problems.

Whilst there are different types of Business Interruption Insurance cover we will concentrate on just two here which is Loss of Revenue & Increased Cost of Working.

Business Interruption is a pretty complex so we will concentrate on what the Photographer and Videographer actually needs.

For many, the place of work is the home office/studio at home, but what if something happened to this such as fire, flood or you where cleared out due to theft? What would happen to your business?

Lets take Loss of Revenue Insurance, It will cover essentially exactly what it says on the tin, Loss of Revenue whilst you cannot work due to a loss that is covered under the property section of your policy, subject to limitations of the policy of course. An obvious scenario to this - lets assume that you lost your camera and much of your kit in say a fire or flood for instance but you had a months worth of work ahead. Obviously you have no camera or kit to carry out the contracted work and therefore your would be in a loss of profit situation.

Increased Cost of Working, another one that describes exactly what it is intended for - to pay any increased costs to say move to alternative premises, redirection of telephone and other expenses that are an increased cost.

Choosing the right cover depends on how you run your business and whether its from business premises such as a Photographic Studio for instance or whether you use your home purely as a base for your business as most of your work is away.
